In Vans’ early days, anyone could walk into their local Vans shop and design their own pair of custom shoes from a stock of fabrics, prints, materials and colors. In modern time, this option of personalization has fallen to the wayside in favor of mass production. This approach created a backlash in the form of the do-it-yourself ethos that defines surfing. The Vans x RIT|Era Classic shares Vans’ custom culture with a pair of white Era Classic boardshorts as well as four packs of RIT dye (red, blue, yellow and black) and a formula guide – combine that with your own imagination for a one-of-a-kind boardshort creation.
